George Mouskas was born on 14th July 1953 in London.

He was brought up in the UK where he went to school and pursued his law studies.

He graduated in 1976 and straight after his studies, Mr. Mouskas joined the family business, Zela Shipping Co Ltd., a company founded in 1963 by his father Kyriacos, and Zenon, George’s elder brother.

After their father had retired to Athens in 1977, George was initially mainly responsible for tanker chartering as well as running the company with his brother.

The company continued its operations in London and specialized in all types of bulk carriers. Around  1990, both,  Zenon and George,  decided to invest exclusively in Capesize vessels.

In 1997, two new building Capesize vessels were ordered at Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea. They performed well therefore in 2002 another sister ship was ordered. Subsequently,  many more vessels were built as well as second-hand acquisitions were carried out.

In 2014 George and Zenon took the strategic decision to move, both, their London office and Athens office to Limassol. A new management company, namely Olympia Ocean Carriers Ltd. was created to manage the ships. Today OOC is in charge of 7 Cape size vessels and 4 Panamax/Kamsarmax ships with a total DWT in excess of 1.5 million tons. All vessels are flying the Cyprus Flag.

Nowadays, George is not alone in overseeing the entire company.  His two nephews,  Kikis and Antonis, as well as his son,  Kyriacos, are by his side to ensure smooth running of the organization.

The move to Limassol, 10 years ago, has proven to be a very successful one and has enabled the company to flourish and make great progress.   Olympia Ocean Carriers Ltd. has been always striving to invest in modern second-hand ships as well as New Buildings. The last new building, a 182,000 Capesize vessel was delivered in April 2023 at JMU in Japan and has been successfully chartered since its delivery.

George was always actively involved in Cyprus shipping and promoting the Cyprus flag, and in 2009 was elected President of the Cyprus Union of Shipowners, a position he held until 2016.

Today he is still actively supporting the Cyprus Union of Shipowners as the Vice-President.

George has also been a Director on many boards related to shipping such as marine insurance companies and P & I Clubs. Currently, he is on the board of the UK P & I Defence Club Cyprus.

Mr. George Mouskas has been married to Mary since 1975 and they have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
